Seeing Yourself the Way God Sees You — Episode 2: The Lie Attached to the Pain

Have you ever experienced rejection, failure, disappointment, or mistreatment—and quietly began believing it said something about who you are?

Maybe rejection made you think, “I am unlovable.”

Maybe failure caused you to believe, “I am a failure.”

Maybe someone treated you badly, and you wondered, “Did I deserve it?”

The pain may have been real, but the message attached to that pain may not be true.

In Episode 2 of the PWC Truth Talk Podcast, Steve and Pastor Chachi discuss how Satan can use painful experiences to plant false beliefs about our value, identity, and future. They also explain how negative self-talk develops, how it can keep us from moving forward, and how God’s truth can help us begin breaking free.

In this episode, we discuss:

• How Satan attaches lies to real pain • Why repeated negative thoughts can begin to feel like facts • How shame and fear keep us from moving forward

• How to separate what happened from who you are

• How to test your thoughts against Scripture

• How to replace a lie with God’s truth

• How to take one faithful step forward

Main Truth:

What happened to you may be part of your story, but it does not have the authority to define you.

You are not your rejection.

You are not your failure.

You are not what someone else called you.

You are God’s workmanship, and God is not finished with you.

A Simple Practice for This Week

Write down one negative statement you regularly say to yourself. Then complete these four sentences:

What happened was: Write down the actual experience.

The message I attached to it was: Identify the belief that grew from the experience.

God’s Word says: Find one Scripture that speaks truth to that belief.

My next faithful step is: Choose one small action that will help you move forward.

Scriptures Discussed

Genesis 3:1–10

Numbers 13:31–33

Psalm 34:18

Proverbs 18:21

John 8:31–32, 44

Romans 12:2 2

Corinthians 10:5

Philippians 4:8, 13

Ephesians 2:10

Revelation 12:10

Ask yourself this week: “Does the message I believe about myself agree with what God says?”

You are not alone. God sees you, loves you, and will walk with you as your mind is renewed by His truth.
